Deborah was born in London where her love of horses began, from learning to draw them and winning prizes in junior drawing competions to learning to ride and compete with them in racing and show jumping events. Her family relocated to the Westcountry where she continued her equine competion interest’s and also acquiring further skills in breaking horses for riding, from which she was able to further understand their behaviour characteristics and conformation as an art study.
Deborah has successfully completed an illustrator’s course at the Plymouth College of Art & Design to become a freelance book illustrator also undertaking requests for various commissions for pet portraits and other animals. Her work is done using pastel on velour and colourfix pastel papers, but also undertakes drawings in charcoal and pencil. Her real love is for horses and has travelled around the Middle East in search of equine subjects, she lived in the Wadi Rum in Jordan riding Arabian horses and camping in the desert with Bedouin’s and to India to study the ancient Marwari horses.
